Ottawa Military Relocation and School Catchment Information
If you are being relocated to the Ottawa area you may wish to find out information on schools and schoolboards before you start searching for your new home. We have provided some information and links below to make your research a little easier.
Kindergarten-aged children in the Ottawa area start at 4 years old and pre-registration is done in late winter/early Spring. You will also have the choice for English or French Immersions streams for elementary and secondary schools depending on the schoolboard on the area you live. Below are some links and information that may help you find the best schools for your children’s needs.

Access information on elementary and secondary schools including information on the school itself, its students and their achievements. Also access school board information reports. It also allows you to do a search by postal code, so if you are looking in a specific area this will narrow down your search tremendously.

School Rankings
To help you decide which elementary or secondary school you may wish to enroll your children in, the Fraser Institute has provided rankings by province, city and by elementary or secondary school name. You can access their website and search by name of the school to find their rankings. You can add up to 6 schools to do a comparison.

Child Care Information
If you are looking for child care facilities in your area, you can access information on child care providers that are licensed either in a specific centre or home-based. The Ontario Licensed Child Care Website also allows you to search by your child’s needs, age etc. in your area.
