It is always amazing how colour and light can come into play when you are selling your home. In this month’s before and after staging blog we will show you how the most amazing features in this home were hidden and needed some simple touches to add light, brightness and colour. Here is what we did to stage this home:

Before and After – Foyer:

In the entrance the walls were lightened with a neutral white to accentuate the light coming through the door. By carrying the colour over the entrance cupboard this allowed the foyer to appear larger and continued the flow of the paint. By removing some tables in the foyer, it made the foyer appear larger and less cluttered.

Before and After – Dining Room:

As chandeliers tend to detract from the features of the room, this was removed and replaced with a flush-mounted fixture. The walls were toned down with a beautiful neutral colour and highlighted by the darker brown feature wall which continued into the living room. Beige full length drapes lengthened the walls and various artwork accentuated the colours of the room and brought out the rich tones in the dining room furniture.

Before and After – Living Room:

The feature wall was continued through the living room and the neutral white colour of the walls were also added here to continue the flow from dining to living room. Heavier furniture was replaced and a single neutral chair and rug complemented and decluttered the area. Focus was now drawn to the semi-circle picture window. Accent cushions in turquoise and beige brought a splash of colour to the living area.

Before and After – Kitchen:

The various dangling lights were removed and replaced by simple white flush-mounted lights. Again, the green walls were toned down with neutral white which contrasted with the natural light coming through the kitchen door. These touches transformed the kitchen to look larger and brighter and the eye now focused on the kitchen and not the overhead chandelier lighting.
